Staff Autonomy Engineer (Perception & Navigation)

About

Understanding position, movement, and environment in real-world conditions is a core blocker for autonomy.

This is an early-stage robotics company building the intelligence layer for industrial machines – forklifts, cranes, excavators and other heavy equipment. The approach is pragmatic: start with remote teleoperation to generate real-world operator data at scale, then train Vision-Language-Action models toward increasing autonomy.

You’ll lead perception and navigation systems across localisation, mapping, and motion.

What you'll do

  • Design perception and navigation systems
  • Build SLAM and localisation pipelines
  • Integrate sensor data into control systems
  • Improve robustness in real environments
  • Work across control and ML approaches
  • Lead technical direction for navigation

What you'll need

  • Strong experience in SLAM or robotics navigation
  • C++ or similar systems language
  • Experience with real-world robotic systems
  • Understanding of control and planning
  • Ability to bridge classical and ML methods
